The Alberta SCI Solutions Alliance (AB SCI SA) is a provincial network of individuals and organizations passionate about making a positive difference for Albertans living with spinal cord injury (SCI). Comprised of people with SCI, service providers, researchers, health care practitioners and others, the AB SCI SA works at local, regional and provincial levels to identify needs and facilitate the delivery of customized solutions, from point of injury to full community participation.
The formation of the AB SCI SA is but a step in the creation and implementation of The Alberta SCI Initiative to enhance the wellbeing of persons living with SCI and initiating a collaborative and systemic improvement of SCI services and research in the Province of Alberta. The Alberta SCI Initiative includes the creation of a $2.0 million dollar Alberta SCI Solutions Fund, one aspect of a five year, $12 million dollar commitment from the Province of Alberta, which funds the entire Alberta SCI Initiative. The AB SCI SA will make recommendations on the distribution of the AB SCI Solutions Fund.
The goal of the Alberta SCI Solutions Fund (AB SCI SA) is to respond to the priority, unmet needs of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) by providing solutions to improve quality of life for persons with SCI. The AB SCI Solutions Fund is available in the form of a grant to individuals with SCI and organizations providing services to individuals with SCI.
